Who We Are

Orongo Missions International

Orongo Missions International is a March 2009 registered public benefits organization headquartered in Kisumu, Kenya, East Africa. It was previously called Orongo Widows and Orphans Project International - Kenya. However, the last strategic plan prompted our change of name, considering the broad nature of issues in vulnerability that the organization is set to deal with.

We identify vulnerable households that need help. We then focus on persons in these households that can be empowered to provide a way out of vulnerability for the rest of that household in the African spirit of ‘Ubuntu’. Our motto is to help one to help many.

We target a multiplier effect by entering a household through one and hoping to impact the entire household and the community that it resides in. To achieve our goals, we have supported the education of over a hundred vulnerable children; trained young and vulnerable persons in income generating skills by facilitating over 40 apprenticeships; built shelters for over 20 vulnerable households; conducted hundreds of psycho-social support sessions; and offered food support to nearly 300 families year on year.
